It's A Fair 'Cop' for Charity!

Kirby Simcox Solicitors launched its year of fund raising for Cancer Research UK, by holding a “Take your coppers to work day”, which raised over £50.

Kirby Simcox asked all its staff and visiting clients to empty their pockets of unwanted coppers and change and donate it to charity.  The money raised will be given directly to Cancer Research UK, which is the charity Kirby Simcox’ employees voted to support for 2008.

Cancer Research UK funds around 4,250 world-class scientists, doctors and nurses, who are working hard to find new and better ways to prevent, diagnose and treat cancer.  Throughout 2007/8 the charity is aiming to raise £1.7 million to fund research in Bristol and Bath.

Partner David Curwen (pictured left) said, “It was surprising just how much you can raise from collecting unwanted coppers.  No-one likes to have a purse or pocket full of heavy change, so people were happy to give it up to such a good cause.  We are hoping to raise at least a £1,000 for Cancer Research UK during 2008 and this event is just a start of our fun fundraising activities over the year.”
